Alex Farell Shows A Playful Side Of Debut Album With ‘Rave Machine’

Alex Farell has shared ‘Rave Machine’, the second single from his forthcoming debut album ‘Youngest In Charge’, due to land on Sara Landry’s HEKATE on 30th October.
The new track follows July’s ‘Club Acid’, which introduced the project through rave-inspired acid techno. ‘Rave Machine’ shifts the emphasis towards a bouncier side of Farell’s production, pairing swinging rhythms with touches of early 2000s dance music.
“I was experimenting with sounds when I made this track and tied it together with a clear-cut groove,” Farell explains. “I think this was the 5th track I made in a week, and by this point I was in a really creative mindset after a week of trying out new sounds, and I wanted to put this into a track.”
The contrast between the album’s opening singles offers an early indication of the ground Farell intends to cover across his first full-length project. Rather than building ‘Youngest In Charge’ solely around peak-time techno, the record will explore a broader range of influences while connecting underground club sounds with more cinematic production.
It is also the biggest project yet from an artist whose career began unusually early. Farell started DJing at home aged 12 before playing his first shows at 14, when performances required him to be legally chaperoned by his parents and agent.
Now 19, his rise has taken him to major UK clubs and festivals including Creamfields, Parklife, The Warehouse Project, Blackstone Warehouse and Terminal V, alongside a growing relationship with HEKATE built through a string of releases on the label.
With ‘Club Acid’ establishing the album’s tougher foundations and ‘Rave Machine’ moving into more playful territory, the first two singles suggest Farell is using his debut to stretch beyond the sound most immediately associated with his rapid rise.
