JOHANNSON continues his current run of releases with ‘Waenda’, out now via Groove Society Records.
Following February’s ‘De Mi Corazon’, the track builds on a sound that sits between Afro and Latin House, balancing melodic depth with a clear focus on dancefloor movement. It’s a direction that feels consistent with his wider catalogue, while still pushing forward in terms of detail and execution.
‘Waenda’ opens with vocal-led momentum, setting the tone early. Expressive phrases sit over a steady groove, supported by evolving synth work and subtle risers that guide the track forward. As the arrangement develops, the energy builds gradually rather than relying on sudden changes, creating a sense of flow that runs through the entire record.
Percussion plays a central role. Layered rhythms and warm low-end movement provide a solid foundation, while melodic elements add colour without overwhelming the mix. Arpeggiated patterns and atmospheric chords introduce variation, keeping the track engaging while maintaining its core direction.
That balance reflects JOHANNSON’s approach. With more than two decades of experience behind him, his productions focus on clarity and control, allowing each element to contribute without excess.
‘Waenda’ sits comfortably within that space. It’s a track built on groove and progression, offering a refined blend of cultural influence and modern house production, designed to work across both open-air settings and late-night floors.
